Safe Organized Spaces Richmond (SOS! Richmond) is a community organizing network of housed and unsheltered neighbors who work together to bring on personal, neighborhood and institutional changes that address the problems of homelessness. SOS! Richmond collaborates with the City of Richmond, other public agencies, nonprofit partners, and civic and private groups for outreach and encampment organizing among unsheltered people across West Contra Costa County. SOS! Richmond employs unsheltered people to improve the living conditions of encampment residents. These team members are uniquely qualified to effect changes in their neighborhoods. As SOS! staff, they use their deep knowledge of place, their authentic survival skills, and their relationships with both sheltered and unsheltered neighbors to build community and improve safety and sanitation. |
