Rizwaan Ali, graduate of the SOS Richmond’s 90 Day Readiness Program, was drawn to the program’s community-focused approach. Rizwaan holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology counseling from San Francisco State University. He worked at Treasure Island’s Job Corps as a Career Transition Specialist where he taught classes, wrote multi-disciplinary curricula which complimented their comprehensive training program. He also excelled in teaching employment readiness and life skills to youth. He prides himself in being a role model that positively influenced over 1000 students.
As SOS, he is known for his dedication and meticulous, non-judgmental approach to building trusting relationships with staff and curbside community members. Rizwaan’s advice to individuals experiencing homelessness is to remain confident no matter the challenges. “I was a former business owner and lost it all. You have to keep pushing through the challenges until you succeed.” |
